UW got a pair of Terrences today: Jones and Ross, from Jefferson High in Oregon.
Jones is a 6-foot-9 forward and McDonald's All-American generally considered a five-star recruit among the top 10 national prospects available this season. He arrived at Portland's Jefferson High School gym wearing an all black suit and a pair of sparkly earrings.
Before his announcement he teared up briefly, thanking those who have helped him through his high school career. He also thanked the coaches from schools that had recruited him: Kansas, Oklahoma, Oregon, UCLA, UW and Kentucky... in that order and heightening the suspense before saying, "I guess now I'll be picking one." He said no one knew because he hadn't made a decision until then.
Then he said he wanted to go to an established school close to home and to play with Jefferson teammate Terrence Ross. Here's a quick scouting report from Dawgman.com.
Earlier, 6-5 guard and four-star recruit Terrence Ross announced that he had selected UW, as had been generally reported. He showed up wearing a UW cap and sweatshirt. He was all-Oregon player of the year two seasons ago.
Washington previously had announced the signings of 6-7 forward Desmond Simmons and 7-foot center Aziz N’Diaye for its incoming class for next season.
More information to come.
